Timothy Bailey Coaching
What’s holding you back?
Welcome, I’m Tim Bailey
I‘m a qualified (ILM7) and experienced personal and executive coach.
I have senior leadership experience, but I’m also a creative and reflective person, and a proud and engaged parent. I want to get the best from all areas of life and to help others do that too.
I’m very pleased to have helped a range of people:
• in their business and professional activities
• in their career development, and
• in achieving personal goals, and finding clarity, in and out of work.

About me
Training and experience as a coach
My first training in coaching (the first of many kinds) was in 2010 and I became an active coach in 2015.
I hold the ILM Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching and Mentoring (February 2021) awarded by one of the UK’s leading professional qualification bodies, the Institute of Learning and Management. I studied for this through Oxford Brookes University Business School.
I’ve also been trained, and worked for several years, as a volunteer employment coach at a mental health recovery charity.
I’m a member of the Association for Coaching.
I’m constantly reading, thinking and writing about how we can harness our psychology, or change the way we understand the world, in order to lead fulfilling, satisfying and (where desired) productive lives.
Leadership and life experience
I deploy a number of tools and approaches that have proved useful.
I also draw on my 35 year career, as well as my general life experience, including having been a:
• Middle and executive/board-level manager in several national organisations
• Senior professional leader in dispute resolution organisations and similar
• Creative writer of fiction, non-fiction and poetry
• Parent of four
Also, like most people, I’ve navigated significant challenges in life whilst balancing responsibilities with personal goals and needs.
What coaching does
Coaching is a proven process which has become widely used in business, as well as in people’s personal lives. It can help you build your competence and confidence, clarify your aims, understand yourself and your motivations, keep you on track, and lead you to a more satisfying and successful work and personal life.
Do you have personal, creative or work goals?
Or do you just want to know what to aim for and how to get the best from life?
The types of things I have helped with include:
• Goal clarifying and prioritisation,
including finding a person’s
underlying needs
• Habit forming and habit losing
• Time management
• Better communication with people,
including empathetic dialogue
• Improving effectiveness as a manager
• Interview and presentation preparation
• Finding meaning and purpose
• Turning vagueness into clarity
• Helping people find out what’s holding them back
.
You may just need a regular confidential sounding board
…or someone to challenge you
.…or someone to be accountable to.
I won’t give you the answers or advise you what to do – that’s the role of an adviser or consultancy – instead I’ll help you laser in on discovering your own answers and finding your true motivation. And I’ll help you keep on track.
My style is to be cheerful, irreverent and friendly, but also straight-talking, and robustly analytical; and to be an intense listener and positively supportive.
Who can coaching help?
Coaching can help in your work and business life, and in non-work life too.
You might be:
• an entrepreneur taking on new challenges
• an actual or aspiring manager
• a senior leader, with no confidential sounding board for being your real self
• aiming to be a better manager
• looking for a new role
or promotion
• wanting to be more productive
• wanting to acquire new skills
or confidence, or
• none of the above!
Or you might be:
• juggling too much in your life, seeking a way through
• wanting a better balance in life
• needing to focus more on study or another activity
• trying to make the most of your free time
• retired, or thinking of retiring
• needing someone with whom to bounce around your ideas about life.
You might just want clarity and support in sorting things out
Whether you want to drive yourself harder
…fulfil your potential
…or drive yourself less
Through coaching I can help.
Client feedback
“I think you are a natural! Your ability to establish a trusting and personal relationship within a short time, whilst remaining professional at all times, is impressive. Finding the right tone to give reassurance without ever being patronizing, giving practical examples and guidance , bolstering my confidence…”
“I believe this has been a very successful relationship, as I have transitioned from an overwhelmed and under-confident state, to a responsible and clearer state.”
“You guided our conversation and found topics (such as life vision) to discuss. It took me to a more positive place, especially considering I was feeling very bogged down by the negativity experienced from a heavy workload….The ‘movie of my future’ helped to improve my outlook and you took time to ‘drill down’ through the ideas I offered. This helped me to expand my vision, and also consider areas I had not before… I have been feeling motivated to create some very specific vision plans about what I would like for a future job and personal life.”
“Thanks for all the help you have given me over the past year. I feel as though I have made massive progress and your coaching has been really instrumental to the process.”
And, later:
“I landed myself a headteacher job! …Thanks for all your help in getting me to a place where I could talk with confidence and authenticity… I’ll always be grateful.”
“Afterwards, I felt that much more motivated to excel in my job and ‘build my empire’.”
